Kawng (Pronounced “Kawng”)
These unique bracelets are hand-made only in the Siem Reap Province of Cambodia. The tradition is passed down from generation to generation within local families, who create the patterns. The designs are inspired by floral patterns which are also found on the Angkor Wat Temple.
Three different plants are used; One for the core and two for the wrappings. The plants are cut, split and dried in the sun. The light and dark colors of the wrappings are the natural colors of the plants, which are woven together to create intricate and evocative patterns. No finish or chemicals are applied to the finished pieces. The long and detailed process produces bracelets of extraordinary beauty.
